Department of Biomaterials and Microbiological Technologies (ZBMT)

Technical expertise with regard to the scope of the project:
Dept. of Biomaterials and Microbiological Technologies will contribute to chemical, specifically polymer expertise of explored biosensors. After preparation of graphene-chitosan ink, structural and rheological analysis will be carried out. The current expertise will also be applied for the selection and characterization of polymer and/or paper support for the lab-on-a-chip system.

Equipment:
The group has an expertise in polymer synthesis and characterization. Synthetic and natural polymers (including chitosan) are being synthesised in a lab- and pilot-plant scale. Characterization facilities such as gel permeation chromatography (GPC), rheological instruments (ARES, Brukfield), dynamic thermal analysis (DMTA, TA Instruments), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), electrophoretic light scattering (Zetasizer NanoZS, Malvern), tensile testing machines (Instron) are available for the project.
